Privacy at Curiopod

We protect your curiosity

We are a small B2C team and only collect what we need to deliver personalized podcasts in English and Spanish.

Last updated: October 1, 2025

In a nutshell

  • 1We collect only the essentials to run your account and generate the podcasts you request.
  • 2Your requests, transcripts, and generated audio live in Supabase with encryption at rest and in transit, and we share only the prompts and output needed with Google's Gemini API to create episodes.
  • 3You can update language preferences, marketing choices, or delete your account at any time.

Data we collect

Here is the personal data we process and why it matters for your experience.

Account essentials

  • Name, email, password hash, and preferred language so we can create and personalize your account.
  • Authentication tokens and session data managed by Supabase for secure sign-ins.

Product usage

  • Topics you generate, podcast titles, transcripts, and listens to power your library.
  • AI-generated audio files (MP3) stored in Supabase so you can stream the episodes you request.
  • PostHog analytics events that help us improve the product without storing raw IP addresses.

Payments & compliance

  • Stripe customer ID, subscription tier, and billing history to manage your membership.
  • Invoices and receipts required for tax and audit purposes.

We never store full payment card numbers or raw audio of your voice.

How we use your information

Deliver and personalize the service

Generate podcasts, remember your language preference, and surface relevant recommendations.

Generate AI episodes responsibly

Send your prompts to Google's Gemini API to create scripts and voices while asking you to review the results before sharing them.

Keep you informed

Send onboarding tips, product updates, or invoices — you can opt out of marketing any time.

Maintain safety and reliability

Monitor abuse, secure accounts, and ensure fair usage of AI generation credits.

Meet legal obligations

Comply with tax, accounting, and regulatory requirements for a global audience.

We do not sell your personal data. Ever. We only share it with essential partners like Supabase, Stripe, and Google Gemini so the service can function.

Trusted partners

We carefully select third parties that align with our privacy standards.

Supabase

Secure authentication, database, and storage.

Protected with per-user policies, encryption, and signed URLs for private audio.

Gemini API

Generates the AI podcast scripts and audio.

We send only the prompts, requested metadata, and generated transcripts needed to produce episodes in Google’s Gemini API. Google may retain or use this data as described in its own terms and privacy policy; we do not control how Google trains or improves its models. We never share payment information with Google.

Stripe

Processes payments and manages subscriptions.

Handles your billing information with PCI-compliant infrastructure.

PostHog

Privacy-conscious product analytics.

We collect usage trends only — no raw IP addresses or ad tracking.

Your controls

You are in charge of how your data is used.

  • Browse Curiopod in English or Spanish using the language toggle in our navigation.
  • Manage subscription, billing history, and invoices through Stripe's customer portal.
  • Delete your account any time from Account Settings — we anonymize remaining podcasts automatically and cancel any active Stripe subscription.
  • Contact us if you need help with data access or marketing preferences.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may access additional rights like those in the GDPR or CCPA. We honor valid requests based on one of the following legal bases: contract (running your account and generating podcasts), legitimate interests (product analytics, abuse prevention), consent (marketing emails or non-essential analytics), and legal obligations (tax, accounting, and compliance). In particular, you may request:

  • Access — receive a copy of personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — fix inaccurate information within your profile.
  • Deletion — permanently remove your account and personal data (note: podcasts generated by you may remain available without personal identifiers).
  • Portability — export key data in a commonly used format.
  • Objection & restriction — limit how we use your data for certain purposes.

Email support@curiopod.app with the subject “Privacy Request” and we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU, UK, or a similar jurisdiction, you can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you are not satisfied with our response.

Security practices

  • Access to production data is limited to a small, least-privilege team.
  • Encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest across Supabase and Stripe.
  • Signed URLs and Supabase row-level policies help protect stored audio and transcripts.
  • We monitor usage to spot suspicious spikes or abuse of generation credits.

Children’s privacy

Curiopod is built for curious learners aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account or provided personal data, please contact support@curiopod.app so we can delete the account and associated personal information.

Account deletion & content retention

  • You can delete your account from Account Settings or by emailing support@curiopod.app.
  • We remove or anonymize personal identifiers tied to your profile and billing data.
  • AI-generated podcasts may remain available without personal identifiers to support ongoing learning and product improvements.

A note on AI-generated episodes

  • Curiopod relies on Google's Gemini models to draft scripts and synthesize multilingual voices when you request a podcast.
  • Automated episodes can include factual mistakes or outdated references, so treat them as educational starting points and review before you rely on them.
  • If you publish or redistribute content, disclose that it was generated with AI and consider adding your own context or corrections.

Common questions

Do you train AI models with my podcasts?

No. Gemini may use prompts to improve its base models per its policies, but we do not use your content to train proprietary models. Always review AI-generated results before acting on them.

How long do you keep my generated audio?

Audio and transcripts stay linked to your account while it is active. We don't yet offer a self-serve delete option for individual episodes—email support@curiopod.app if you need a specific podcast removed. When you close your account we strip personal identifiers, but anonymized podcasts may remain available to support ongoing learning.

What about cookies?

We use essential cookies for authentication plus limited analytics to understand product usage. You can disable analytics anytime under Account Settings → Privacy controls, or email support@curiopod.app and we'll switch it off for you.

Is the content generated automatically?

Yes. Podcasts and transcripts are created with Google’s Gemini models and may include errors or outdated references. Treat them as informational starting points and review them before relying on them.
